Biography

I am a writer and passionate reader of literary fiction, and have been since I was a child.

As a young mother, I wrote while my children napped, and had some early success getting short stories published. I then began working on novels, which has been a solitary occupation and so far fruitless, at least in terms of publication.

The Internet has been a boon to me: This blog gives me an outlet to publish every day; the discipline to keep my writing focused; and a growing audience that actually responds to me.

Stories of mine that have been published in print include:
“Basal Memory” in ASCENT, Volume 18, No. 2, Winter 1994.
“Sin Etc.” in COTTONWOOD 45, Fall 1991.
“Thunderhead” in CONFRONTATION, 44/45, Fall 1990/Winter 1991.
“Shotgun” in DESCANT (TCU), Volume 31, No. 1, Fall-Winter 86-87. (Printed fall of ‘89.)
“Double Shift” in PASSAGES NORTH, Volume 10, No. 2, Summer 1989.
“Empty Mirror” in BLACK WARRIOR REVIEW, Volume 13, No. 1, Fall 1986.
“Jamie” in GARGOYLE’S “Fiction/86” (GARGOYLE MAGAZINE 30/31).
“Water Babies” in COTTONWOOD 37, Winter 1985/Spring 1986.

1998 finalist in the Dana Awards for short stories.
